  • Meme - like cream. The new name rolled out nicely.

meme |mēm| noun Biology – an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, esp. imitation.

After considerable thought, I have decided to drop  CrackCard  and replace it with Meme Card. While Crack is funny, Meme is clever. Even when mispronounced as “me-me”, it still works. A meme (rymes with cream) is a thing that quickly gets passed from one person to another – like your personal brand.

My ego will have a moment of silence for the name I once thought so brilliant – fair well dear CrackCard.

  • Would a Brand of any other name not smell as sweet?

    brandoncorbin 8:46 pm on October 4, 2009 | 0 Permalink | Reply

Ever since I started building this personalized business card service, I have battled with the name. I wanted something to standout from the mix of print related brands – and ended up going with CrackCard. I knew it was a sledge hamer of a name, one that would continually need to compensate for being so rough.  For months, I have gone back and forth on what names to go with. I would challenge my children on which name they could spell, read and most importantly remember.

“CrackCard? Dad, it’s a business – you can’t call it CrackCard. But you know what, Crack is a funny word, and I did remember it” said my 7 year old son. He was right, Crack is a funny word – but he was also right, that this is business – and Crack won’t float for the masses of people I need to purchase personal cards.

So in the next week or so, I hope to roll out the new and improved brand!

  • The CrackCard Story - Part 1

    brandoncorbin 10:44 pm on September 27, 2009 | 0 Permalink | Reply

Some of you might know that my father (Bill Corbin) has been rocking the the printing industry for some 30 years. Ever since a young age I have been surrounded by paper, alcohol and ink, however, when the web started to gain traction – I saw the opportunity to make my own mark and left the tangible world of print behind. But ink runs strong through these veins – and my mind continually searches for a reason to build a product that leverages print again.  CrackCard is it.

What is the mission of CrackCard?

    1. To create unique and stylish personal business cards
    2. Promote designers
    3. Help web publishers generate revenue from their brand in print.

    What powers CrackCard?
